Mary Bohanna – Athletics Ireland Marketing Executive

Mary is the longest-serving member of the Athletics Ireland marketing team, having joined the association upon completing her marketing degree in TUD (DIT) in 2017.

She has been a key driver in the promotion and marketing of the sport over this period, supporting a full schedule of competition and recreational events which have grown year on year.

Mary has played an important role in Athletics Ireland’s Women in Sport initiatives, working closely with Athletics Ireland Women in Sport Officer, Lilly-Ann O’Hora.

Most recently, Mary played a pivotal role in Athletics Ireland’s hosting of Fingal-Dublin 2021 – arguably the most successful European Cross Country Championships of all time.

Her contribution to athletics in Ireland cannot be underestimated, and her motivated and positive outlook will continue to inspire those she works with.

This annual list identifies those under the age of 30 who are making a mark in the business of sport in 2022. It is compiled with the ongoing support of PwC, ‘where potential becomes success’.

The criteria for nomination is that they should either be working in a role that sees them playing a significant part in sports administration, sports marketing or the commercial world of sport; or that they are a graduate of an Irish third-level institution and making their mark on the international stage, and that they were born in or after 1992.
