Investec has signed the largest deal in British Horseracing history by agreeing a ten year extension to sponsor the Epsom Derby.
Investec took over sponsorship of one of the world’s most prestigious races from Vodafone four years ago and this deal will lengthen their involvement to at least 2021.  It also means that the race will once again become the most valuable to be run in Britain with a total prize fund this year of more than €1.5 million.  It is only the third company to sponsor the race after Ever Ready (1984-1995) and Vodafone (1996-2008).
Irish trained horses have won the race five times in the last twelve years since John Oxx ended a 15 year gap with Sinndar in 2000.
“We are delighted that Investec have agreed to extend their sponsorship for such a long period,” said Rupert Trevalyan, Managing Director of Epsom Racecourse. “They are a fantastic brand to work with, very forward thinking and proactive, and we will continue to work in collaboration with them to develop the Investec Derby Festival.”
‘It is a real honour for Investec to be involved in such a traditional British event,” added Investec Managing Director Bernard Kantor.  “The last three years have been fantastic, with the likes of Sea the Stars and Workforce winning the Investec Derby, as well as the buzz around Her Majesty the Queen’s Carlton House in last year’s race.”
“Since we started in 2009 the sponsorship has been very rewarding for us as a brand.  It will continue to grow in stature as we work with Epsom to cement the Investec Derby Festival as one of the key events in the British social and sporting calendar.”
This year’s Investec Derby Festival takes place on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd June, and will form a key part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
