Rhasidat Adeleke will be targeting a European Championship and Olympic Games double this summer and is a serious medal contender for both.
This is a rarity for an Irish sprinter on the biggest stage of all but Adeleke is a rarity in her talent.
She will be based in Texas for the opening weeks of the season, her first as a professional athlete and outside the structure of College Athletics and the NCAA.
As a Nike ambassador she has access to the best of everything and former World 200 metre champion Dina Asher-Smith is part of her training group. She spoke yesterday of working with her coach and management to select the programme of indoor and then outdoor races that will be best for the 21-year-old.
Despite exiting the College athletics programme she is still studying for a degree in corporate communications at the University of Texas and will also be serving as an ambassador for Allianz in its partnership with Team ireland ahead of the Paris Games and potentially at a global level in its relationship with the International Olympic Committee.
Heady days for the young athlete who will without doubt be one of the faces and the stars of irish sport in 2024.
As a reminder of just how charming she is here is her appearance on the Sport for Business Podcast from back in July.
