More than 100 players travelled to Project Padel Galway over the weekend as the Irish Padel Tour continued its 2026 national circuit.

The CUPRA IPT event, staged in Galway for the second consecutive year, reached full capacity a week before entries closed, underlining the growing demand for competitive padel events across Ireland.

Players competed across four categories: Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Intermediate and Women’s Intermediate, with a strong crowd atmosphere and high-quality matches throughout the weekend.

Mathias Gonzalez and Andrés Martínez won the Men’s Open title, while Karen Nugent and Anna Zuka claimed victory in the Women’s Open. More than €1,000 in prize money was awarded to finalists, with each winning pair also earning 1,000 IPT ranking points.

The Galway event further reflected the growing scale and professionalism of the Irish padel scene, as participation and interest continue to rise nationwide.

Attention now turns to the Cupra IPT Major Padel 54 in Belfast on May 30 and 31. One of only four Major events on the Irish Padel Tour calendar, it will offer some of the highest ranking points and prize money of the season, with more than 200 players expected to take part.
