Here are eight things that we think will be worth making your way towards on the island of Ireland over the course of the weekend. They range from football, camogie, ladies’ football, and hurling, all in Cork, to Dublin in a Leinster Hurling Final, Leinster in a URC Semi-Final, cricket in the picturesque Bready and a festival of Triathlon in Galway.

1. The Munster Hurling Final – Cork Vs Limerick

The hottest ticket in Irish sport this weekend. A sell-out crowd, extensive broadcast coverage and one of the sport’s great rivalries make this arguably the standout event of the weekend.

2. Republic of Ireland Vs Netherlands – World Cup Qualifier

The Women’s National Team continues its strategy of taking major international fixtures beyond Dublin. A strong crowd in Pairc Uí Chaoimh on Friday night will reinforce the national support for a team that is heading in the right direction for Brazil 2027.

3. The Leinster Hurling Final – Dublin Vs Galway

Dublin’s return to a Leinster Final has the sports fans in the City abuzz. Galway stand in the way of a first Leinster title in over a decade, but the Boys in Blue are flying and have already beaten Galway in the Leinster Championship.

4. Cork Vs Armagh Ladies Football All-Ireland Championship

Back to Cork again, what a weekend for the City. These two have been drawn alongside Waterford in a group of no mercy in the All-Ireland. The Winners of the three get home advantage in the Quarter Final Round, the Runners-up survive, but the third-placed team go out of the Championship. These three came first, third and fifth in the top flight of the Lidl National League.

5. Ireland Vs New Zealand T20 Cricket at Bready

Cricket Ireland lost the Women’s game against Pakistan to the weather on Thursday, but will be hoping for better luck in Bready on Saturday. This is the format that will be used in Ireland for the 2030 World Cup, and New Zealand are among the best in the world.

6. Lough Cutra Castle Triathlon Festival

One of Ireland’s longest-running and most picturesque participation events returns to Galway this weekend, attracting athletes from across Ireland, the UK and beyond. Set against the backdrop of the historic Lough Cutra Estate, the festival has grown into far more than a triathlon, offering a programme that includes sprint, Olympic, middle-distance and children’s races.

7. Cork Vs Galway Camogie All-Ireland Championship

Few fixtures in Camogie carry greater significance than a meeting of Cork and Galway, two counties with proud traditions and realistic ambitions of contesting the latter stages of the championship this summer.

8. Leinster Vs Bulls – URC Semi-Final

Leinster’s United Rugby Championship semi-final against the South African Bulls is one of the biggest professional sporting occasions taking place in Ireland this weekend and a fixture with victory leading the way to another major final for Leo Cullen’s side.
