Each weekend, we highlight some of the performances that light up the Irish sporting landscape.
This weekend, we highlight action in Women’s Rugby, three codes of Gaelic Games, Gymnastics, Football and Show Jumping.
This week’s Champions of the Weekend is brought to you by Sky, one of Sport for Business’s key partners and supporters of our coverage of Football.

History was made at the Aviva Stadium with the largest Irish home attendance for a Women’s Guinness Six Nations game, as a team that has grown consistently in terms of delivery and engagement over the past three years. They also delivered on the pitch with seven first-half tries and eight in total.
Westmeath Men’s Gaelic Football
In 2004, they lit up the county winning their last Leinster football title, and on Sunday, they did it again. Against a Dublin team that was favoured to win and looked to be finding their stride again, Westmeath were the stronger team and blasted their way through extra time to set up scenes of celebration across the county. Both sides now move into the All-Ireland series, but only one of them with silverware.
Armagh Men’s Gaelic Football
Having given up a seven-point lead to go to extra time, Armagh may have feared that an 18-year search for Ulster glory would again prove out of reach but they had power and accuracy in the 20 minutes of added time to secure the title, outscoring Monaghan by 1-07 to 0-01.
Gymnastics Ireland
The 2026 Gymnastics Ireland National Series National Championships took place this weekend in the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena. The All-Around and Apparatus National Championships competitive event saw 1400+ gymnasts from all around the country competing from intro to international level in the disciplines of Acrobatics, Men’s Artistic, Women’s Artistic, Rhythmic, Trampoline & Tumbling, with 3,200+ spectators supporting across the two days.
Dublin Ladies FootballÂ
Trailing by a point with nine minutes to go, Dublin finished strong with two goals in the closing stages to secure a 13th consecutive Leinster ladies’ football title at Croke Park on Sunday.
Dublin Hurlers
There was a dramatic finish in Galway as Dublin hurlers grabbed their Leinster Round Robin match by the neck in the closing minutes to score a goal and a point with the last two plays of the game to secure a famous victory and assure themselves a place in the All-Ireland series.
Jack Moylan
It may not have been the most meaningful international, but the Republic of Ireland’s 5-0 win over Grenada in Spain did set up six international debuts and a first-time, first-game hat-trick for Jack Moylan of Lincoln City.
Ireland Show Jumping Team
Ireland’s show jumpers won a dramatic EEF Series Nations Cup in Borgo La Caccia – Bedizzole after Harry Allen and Edison De Hus jumped a triple clear to seal victory in a jump-off against hosts Italy.
