Each weekend, we highlight some of the performances that light up the Irish sporting landscape.

This weekend, we highlight action in Golf,  Cricket, Rowing, Gaelic Football, Hurling and Football.

This week’s Champions of the Weekend is brought to you by SSE Airtricity, one of Sport for Business’s key partners and supporters of our coverage of Sustainability in Sport.

Irish Women Golfers

Sara Byrne finished second in the Jabra Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour on Saturday.  This was followed by Lauren Walsh finishing third at the Shoprite LPGA Classic in New Jersey, securing a six-figure payday, and was followed into the top of the leaderboard by Leona Maguire in 9th and Stephanie Meadow in 21st.

Irish Women’s Cricket

Ireland Women beat Pakistan by seven wickets in their third game in the T20 International Tri-Series in Clontarf, aided by half-centuries from Amy Hunter and Rebecca Stokell, as part of a record-breaking run chase to haul in their opponents.

They then went on to beat the West Indies for the first time at a rain-hit Clontarf on Monday.  All great preparation for the Women’s World Cup coming up later this month.

For the first time in 52 years, Louth got the better of Dublin in the All-Ireland Football Championship at Croke Park on Sunday, coming from six points down at half-time in a pulsating game.
