Centra has launched the 2026 Centra Sharpshooter competition, with Cork hurling great Patrick Horgan calling on young players across the country to test their accuracy and skill.

Speaking ahead of this year’s Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final between Cork and Limerick, Horgan, Centra’s lead Sharpshooter ambassador, encouraged children aged between eight and 12 to take part in the initiative.

The competition invites young hurlers to collect a Sharpshooter target sticker from participating Centra stores, place it on their local club’s ball wall, and upload a video of their efforts to social media, tagging @CentraIRL and their local GAA club.

The winning entry will earn a €1,000 prize for their local GAA club, as well as the opportunity for the winning team to play at the 2026 Hurling for Cancer Research Charity Match, which takes place this August.

The initiative continues Centra’s long-standing support of grassroots GAA, using one of the biggest weekends in the Munster hurling calendar to shine a light on the next generation of players.

Horgan’s involvement brings added weight to the campaign, with the Cork forward one of the most recognisable and prolific hurlers of his generation. His backing for the Sharpshooter challenge is designed to inspire young players to practise the game’s core skills in a fun and accessible way.

The competition is now open at participating Centra stores, with clubs and families encouraged to get involved and share their entries online.
