Leinster and Ireland full-back, Hugo Keenan, and Women’s Ireland out-half, Stacey Flood, have this morning announced a multi-year partnership with Energia, as the leading energy provider furthers its support of Irish rugby.
Energia became a partner of Irish Rugby in 2019, and the new ambassadors will enable the delivery of its vision of empowering both men’s and women’s rugby from grassroots through to the international stage.
Both players have been out meeting with media over the past 24 hours, the result of which can be seen in today’s on and offline media.
Keenan was reliving his part in the final play of the game in Paris last weekend that ultimately cost the Ireland team one last chance of snatching a victory.
“I was fairly gutted afterwards, I’m not gonna lie. Obviously, if I had my time back, I would have held on to the ball.”
“It was a tough situation,” he added. “The French had a good kick-chase. I caught it on the 22, so it would have been a difficult situation anyway, but I suppose I would have just carried it back.”
“I don’t think anything was hugely on. Maybe try counterattack, gain as much ground and get into our rhythm, and we could have had one final crack at it.”
Without the sponsorship enabled media duties we might not have gotten the insight into what that was like.
Stacey Flood was also out and about and looking forward to the TikTok Women’s Six Nations next month.
“The fact it has its own window is extremely exciting,” she said.
“I feel like there were more eyes on it last year, and that really helped the game grow. The excitement levels are high to get back playing a full Six Nations because we didn’t get to experience that last year.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Hugo and Stacey on board as our new brand ambassadors,” said Head of Brand at Energia, Amy O’Shaughnessy.
“Both players have a strong future with the Men’s and Women’s game respectively, as do we, so together we felt they were the perfect partnerships.”
“With the Men’s Guinness Six Nations well underway and the Women’s Sevens finishing as silver medal winners last month, it’s an exciting time for both Men and Women’s rugby. We’re excited to begin our relationship with Hugo and Stacey and continue to strengthen our Irish Rugby sponsorship.”
This Guinness Six Nations, Energia is helping fans play their part in becoming more sustainable and environmentally conscious through Ireland’s Greenest Fan campaign. The aim is to help guide fans and the wider rugby community on how they can reduce their carbon footprint on match days.
