Geraldine McTavish has been appointed as the new Disability Lead at Sport Ireland.

The role was created as a new one arising out of the success of the Women’s Sport Lead position and McTavish will now take on responsibility for continuing the concerted push towards making sport available for everyone.

She joined Sport Ireland in August of last year as Outdoor Recreational Manager but when this role was created and advertised it looked like a perfect fit.

Prior to joining Sport Ireland, McTavish had spent five years as the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at the GAA, leading the way on a variety of key issues across the Association.

She has also held roles in development with Special Olympics Ireland, Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football and the IABA in Boxing.

She has twice featured on the Sport for Business 50 Women of Influence in irish Sport and will now be taking on a crucial role across irish sport at a time when in partos of the world the idea of equality and inclusion are under attack.

SPORT FOR BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE

McTavish is a perfect fit for this important role and we wish her the best in the coming months and years.

WHAT’S UP NEXT?

The Sport for Business Sport for Social Good Conference will take place in October 2025 and will look at all different areas of how sport can assist in inclusion.
