Each weekend, we select performances from Irish sports worthy of highlighting. This weekend, we highlight action in Football, Athletics, Hurling, Ladies Football, Swimming and Rowing.

Katie McCabe
Joining an elite group of Irish footballers with a UEFA Champions League Winners medal, Katie McCabe played a leaders part in Arsenal’s underdog win over Barcelona in the Final in Lisbon on Saturday.
Efrem Gidey
Efrem Gidey (Clonliffe Harriers AC) won gold at the European 10,000m Cup in Pacé, France. The 24-year-old clocked a time of 27:40.47 to secure his maiden appearance on a senior international podium for Ireland.
Irish Women Athletes
At the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting in Zagreb, Croatia, Sharlene Mawdsley (Newport AC) finished second in the Women’s 400m clocking a season’s best time of 51.14 seconds.
Sophie Becker (Raheny Shamrock AC) opened her individual season in the 400m, finishing second at the IFAM Outdoor meeting in 51.69 seconds.
Sarah Healy produced a superb run to finish third over 3000m at the Diamond League in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday evening, the Dubliner smashing her personal best to clock 8:27.02.
Hammer Throw sensation Nicola Tuthill (UCD AC) competed at the Halplus Werfertage meeting, finishing fourth in a world-class field, with a throw of 69.68 metres.
Munster Hurling
Over 70,000 fans turned out to watch the Munster Hurling Championship games between Cork and Waterford at SuperValu Pairc Uí Chaoimh and theLimerick and Clare at the TUS Gaelic Grounds. Cork and Limerick will now battle it out for the Munster Title in two weeks time.
Kerry and Galway Women’s Footballers
Both sides retained their Provincial titles in Munster and Connacht with wins over Waterford and Mayo. Kerry though did not take the lead until a goal two minutes from the end in a cracker of a game.
Daniel Wiffen
Daniel Wiffen delivered a standout performance in front of a packed arena in Canet, France. The 23-year-old touched the wall in 14:54.71 to claim gold in the 1500 metre Final at the Mare Nostrum event, with his closest competitor finishing in 15:01.66. The time also saw Wiffen shatter the Mare Nostrum record, held by legendary Australian swimmer Grant Hackett (15:00.58) since 2007
Jonah Kirby and Jack Rafferty
The Junior Men’s Double won a bronze medal at the European U19 Rowing Championships in Kruszwicka, Poland on Sunday
